Sizing the package

Showers, taps, mixing valves, steam control valves, hot water wash down valves, steam injection heaters, oil cargo heaters.

We might have a wide array of apparently unrelated products that have applications across multiple industries, yet central to every single product design is the thermostatic element, which controls the temperature of the output liquid, be it water, oil or other.

In short, thermostatic control lies at the heart of everything we do.  Now, the recently launched Duŝo sports shower column is not thermostatic in itself, but it is specifically designed for pairing with a Horne thermostatic mixing valve (TMV).  The TMV, most often a Horne 15 (DN15) or a Horne 20 (DN20), will blend hot water with cold water to a safe and comfortable temperature and feed a group of timed flow control shower heads, such as the Duŝo, as shown in the image above.

This pairing of TMV and timed flow shower is, however, only part of this particular Horne package.  We can also help you to select the optimum size of TMV to serve blended water to your specific group showering application.  Correct sizing of the TMV is important as it ensures optimal flow rates when all shower heads are in use (not too small) and ensures good water turnover while reducing water wastage (not too big).  In addition, knowing the volume and temperature of hot water that will be used for a given installation operating at full capacity is also very useful for effectively sizing the hot water generator.

The Horne Valve Sizing Tool (example data entry screen pictured above) is very easy to use, but to make things even easier we have prepared a short video tutorial.

We recommend you have a play with the Valve Sizer to familiarise yourself then bookmark it for future use on projects with group mixing applications.
