Pseudomonad contamination - Part 4

If you have encountered retrograde Pseudomonad contamination of your taps the last thing that you should do is remove the outlet fitting.

The Optitherm Thermostatic Tap’s outlet fitting is very important and should be retained as it fulfils a number of functions:

Flow rate, flow condition and water retention are covered in my previous posts.

Cleaning outlet fittings – there is an inescapable truth that outlet fittings must be kept clean. The outlet fitting may be subject to treatment in an autoclave. We also encourage the use of our flushing and thermal disinfection kit to suppress contamination and manage the risk.

The water/air break is always going to pose a challenge and the risks need to be identified and managed as best they can.

We do not advocate the removal of the outlet fitting and would consider it to be a counterproductive move.
