Optitherm Flushing Boot

Part Number 5684

In accordance with BS EN 806: Specifications for installations inside buildings conveying water for human consumption, Part 4 - Installation, supply pipework (to terminal fittings) should be flushed at full bore with wholesome water.  This higher velocity Cleansing Flush is required to completely remove any debris, sediment, corrosion products and organic matter that may have entered, or accumulated within the water system during its construction or refurbishment.

The Optitherm Flushing Boot enables the pipework to be flushed at high velocity via the spigot prior to installation and commissioning of the tap body, which may not be required until the final stages of the fit-out programme.

A Required Accessory for achieving full compliance with BS EN 806 and our own commissioning instructions.

If employing a maintenance regime that involves the periodic changeover of tap bodies (e.g. removal to the workshop for performance testing, flushing and thermal disinfection), the flushing boot can be used between changeovers to quickly and effectively remove excess biofilm from the internal pipe surfaces and thus improve the quality of water entering the tap.

High Velocity Flushing at regular intervals has a profound effect on water quality, system health and, crucially, patient safety. The Flushing Kit is a relatively low cost, but invaluable investment for every site. Learn about the many ways in which it boosts water system health.

Although the fine mesh strainer baskets on the Optitherm tap offer a degree of protection for the thermostatic mechanism, it cannot be guaranteed to prevent all ingress and damage by harmful debris, and therefore it is best practice to minimise the risk of particulate damage using the Flushing Kit.

High velocity flushing of the water supplies can also be achieved with the Optitherm tap body installed on the spigot. The in-situ Flushing Kit adaptor fits into the void created by removing the cold or hot inlet cartridge assemblies.
