After 30 years of campaigning for better facilities, Brigg Men’s 2nd XI Hockey team played the first match on their brand new, all-weather and floodlit Blue Astro pitch on Saturday 7th January 2017. This is an historic moment as, for many years, all Brigg teams (4 mens and two ladies teams) have had to play their home games on hired facilities outside of the town.
This fixture, played against City of York, was also the first to utilise the brand new changing room block, which features four large, heated changing rooms with integrated toilet facilities and modern en-suite showers, aka our Duŝo sport shower column. A Changing Places accessible changing room with hoist, adjustable sink and Equalities Act shower provides facilities for less able users.
Tony Currie, Design Engineer at North Lincolnshire Council, specified both the Horne Duŝo, a stylish ‘group’ shower that features a 60 second timed flow duration as standard, and the Changing Places shower, our T108A2L, featuring a hose, handset and riser rail that doubles as a supportive grab bar, colour contrast, and moulded and coloured lever controls to aid user independence.
The total investment by North Lincolnshire Council was £2.6M and the official opening of Brigg Recreation Ground will take place next month. The new facilities will also be home to local tennis, cricket, netball and football clubs.
