Developing the HORNE 'blender'

This post refers to a piece of Horne product literature entitled 'Horne's Specialities' that we believe dates from the 1930s.

The thermostatic valve previously described (Blog post 'Horne Specialities') leads directly to the 'HORNE' hot water blender described on page eighteen.

Having established temperature control at the water heater around 60°C, it was readily apparent that this water was too hot for certain applications, namely the spray baths (showers) referred to. The hot water blender was the first thermostatic mixing valve and we can trace a direct technological evolution from the development of the blender to the Optitherm tap of today.
