It is with great pleasure that we have selected Erskine Hospital for ex- Servicemen & Women as our Worthy Cause for 2014 and we have pledged a donation in support of their valuable work.
This is in place of sending either paper or electronic Christmas cards to our customers – saving the environment, maintaining customer goodwill and supporting our deserving veterans.
2014 marks 100 years since the start of WW1 and almost 100 years since Erskine Hospital opened its doors to care for returning ex-servicemen of war. Maurice Smiley, an ex-employee of Horne who is currently cared for at Erskine Hospital, also visited us, by chance, last year when he was over playing dominoes at our neighbouring nursing home. Maurice had a strong recollection of his time working in our factory and impressed us with his remembered technical knowledge and understanding – a testament, perhaps, to the care and support he receives at Erskine Home. For these reasons, we have selected Erskine as our Worthy Cause for this year.
