NHS Lanarkshire have standardised on the award-winning Optitherm thermostatic tap for all clinical handwashing stations in its three acute hospitals and a large health centre in East Kilbride.
Following a thorough evaluation of the available thermostatic taps on the market, the team at Monklands Hospital in Airdrie selected the Optitherm as their preferred choice and installed 25 for trialling within new clinical handwash modules in Ward 22 that was undergoing refurbishment.
Following the success of the trial period, a further 150 Optitherm taps have been installed at Monklands Hospital and NHS Lanarkshire have taken the decision to standardise all components of the clinical handwashing unit - a clinical basin and associated trap, the Optitherm tap and soap, gel and hand towel dispensers are mounted on an Integrated Panel System (IPS) unit. Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride and Wishaw General Hospital are also now having Optitherm installed as wards are selected for refurbishment. More detail on this story is available here.
