Since 1925, Horne Engineering Ltd has been involved in the design, development and manufacture of thermostatic mixing valves (TMVs) to ensure safe and comfortable hot water provision at basins, baths and bidets. This legacy of experience has resulted in the most advanced and reliable range of mixing valves on the market today, two of which were amongst the first TMVs to gain NHS D08 approval as Type 3 TMVs. The HORNE 15 and HORNE 20 are renowned to be the most effective TMVs for the prevention of scalding injuries – even when the cold water supply pressure fails. Scalding accidents are all too common and occasionally fatal in Special Needs environments - therefore it is vitally important that reliable TMVs are installed to reduce this risk.

More recently, Horne Engineering Ltd adapted the design of the Horne 15 for use in a shower assembly; the TSV1 Thermostatic Shower Valve.

In addition to the ‘safe’ hot water provided by the mixing valve, the surface mounted shower panel has a number of features particularly suited to Special Need applications:

Supply Pipe Protection
Whilst also protecting the user from the high surface temperature of the hot supply pipe (satisfying the NHS Estates Health Guidance note “Safe” hot water and surface temperatures), the shower panel casing encloses the supply pipes and outlet riser to give protection against accidental or intentional damage.

Safe, Anti Vandal design
Constructed from epoxy coated stainless steel, the panel is extremely robust and durable with smoothed corners and rounded edges to prevent harm. The reinforced anti-vandal and anti-ligature fixing options also ensure safety and long life.

Variety of models
A variety of specifications is available to cater for every need – including vandal resistant and timed-flow control options.

Easy installation and maintenance
The surface mounted assembly can be rapidly installed, whilst access to the mixing valve for maintenance purposes can also be conducted with the panel in situ.

With all these features and benefits, it is easy to understand why Horne mixing valves and shower valves are the No. 1 choice for special need applications.
