| Steam Injection Heater (SIH) - How it works. | |||
| 1. Under full load, tiny jets of steam are injected into the water through small gaps and the peripheries of the plates and condense with very little vibration and low noise. 2. Under light steam load, steam condenses between the plates and the hot condensate is injected into the water. 3. Heat is transferred (by conduction) through the surface of the plates to the water.
The HORNE SIH transfers all of the energy of the steam (latent and real) into the water, and in this sense is 100% efficient. If required, several units can be connected to a single steam supply pipe. The HORNE SIH is a highly reliable unit manufactured entirely from stainless steel and, being a passive device, needs no maintenance. The very low levels of vibration produced by the HORNE SIH can greatly increase the lifespan of tanks and other fittings in the vicinity of the heater. A HORNE EA-1 thermostatic control valve should be mounted above the HORNE SIH (at least 50mm above) to regulate the steam supply to the HORNE SIH and control the temperature of the contents of the tank. A vacuum breaker should be fitted between the strainer and the HORNE EA-1 thermostatic control valve to prevent the contents of the water tank being drawn back through the HORNE SIH when the steam supply is turned off for any reason. |
